Hi, I'm Kelsey Mirando, a magazine journalist and May 2011 graduate of the
Missouri School of Journalism.
Last summer, I took my first bite of the Big Apple while interning at
Ladies' Home Journal through the
American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) program. At
LHJ, I researched, fact-checked, blogged, tweeted and contributed to LHJ.com while serving as a temporary editorial assistant to the Health and Features departments.
In Columbia, I reaped the benefits of the Missouri Method, a hands-on, real-world approach to journalism education. I told stories through print, audio slideshow and video as an education reporter for the
Columbia Missourian daily newspaper and as a contributing writer for
Vox, Columbia's weekly magazine. In a whirlwind of chopsticks and match points, I represented the J-School while covering ATP and WTA matches for the
2009 China Open tennis tournament in Beijing.
I dove into all things Web with my launch of Her Campus Mizzou, an online lifestyle magazine for Mizzou women. During my senior year, I led the site to become one of the most trafficked of Her Campus Media's 130+ branches. Read more about this project and my undergrad career in this
profile from the Mizzou J-School's
online alumni magazine.
Magazines' glossy pages and interactive web features pull me in like a bee to honey, while their long-form journalism, outstanding photography and superb design keep me a lover of the medium. Thanks for stopping by, and please contact me with any questions!
